SPEAKER of Parliament Halimah Yacob will be stepping down from her post to contest the upcoming presidential election in September, making her the first woman to run for the highest office in the land.
Confirming her decision on Sunday, she said she had given the issue much thought since she announced three weeks ago that she was "thinking about" running for the presidency.
