Dynamic Dyson
A drive to make products smaller, lighter and more intelligent is what keeps the brand and its founder going.
AT the newly opened Dyson Technology Centre at Science Park 1, there is a James Dyson quote on the wall that says: "As engineers, we have to see beyond existing technology and ask: 'Is there a better way?'"
That is the attitude that Mr Dyson, the founder, asks of his staff every day, and it is also his philosophy of making things better.
The 70-year-old, who is also the company's chief engineer, is best known for inventing the Dual Cyclone bagless vacuum cleaner; the Airblade, a fast hand dryer that uses a thin sheet of moving air as a squeegee to remove water; the Air Multiplier, a bladeless fan; and in 2016, the Supersonic, a hair dryer that resembles a mini mallet.
