Greater capacity, enhanced features planned for Seletar Airport's new passenger terminal
THE new passenger terminal at Seletar Airport, which will open at the end of 2018, will have a capacity of 700,000 passengers annually.
Covering a gross floor area of 9,500 square metres, the two-storey terminal will be situated at the eastern side of Seletar Airport. Of that, 500 sq m will be used to serve business jet passengers.
It is being built at a cost of S$50 million.
The new building will have an enlarged capacity compared to the existing terminal which handled some 26,700 passengers last year. This will also enable turboprop operations to be moved from Changi Airport to Seletar when the new terminal is ready.
Other features include a gate hold-room which can seat close to 200 passengers and a cafe. Meanwhile, those travelling on chartered business jets and private jets will have a dedicated check-in area and lounge area.
See Seng Wan, general manager of Seletar Airport, said: "We look forward to providing passengers with a new level of experience, in terms of comfort and convenience, when the terminal opens."
Daniel Ng, director (aviation industry) of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), said: "The expansion of Seletar Airport will accommodate the growth of our air traffic and optimise operational resources. The new passenger terminal building will also complement operations at Changi Airport and allow for more capacity."
