Ireland eyes Asia amid disquiet over Brexit, Apple

IRELAND is flinging its doors open to Asian financial firms seeking inroads to Europe, as Brexit prompts uncertainty over London's financial hub status.

This comes as the Irish government, while set to appeal the European Commission's ruling that Ireland had given up to 13 billion euros (S$19.8 billion) worth of illegal tax benefits to the US tech giant Apple Inc, is also publicly committing to the European Union (EU) as a regional trade bloc, said the country's minister of state for financial services Eoghan Murphy.
