STI closes higher for the first time this week

A COLOURLESS session with no significant interest on either side of the stock market pretty much wrapped up Friday's trading, capping a majorly subdued week.

Evidently, investors needed more time to wrap their heads around a myriad of macro data and confusing signals on the timing of the next US rate hike.

The Straits Times Index rose 7.04 points or 0.3 per cent to 2,844.02 on Friday - the only day this week it finished in positive territory, bringing its weekly losses to 23.4 points or 0.8 per cent.
