Petrobras shuts off gas supply to Eletrobras thermal plant
Brasilia
BRAZIL'S Petroleo Brasileiro SA shut off gas supply to a thermal plant in the Amazon run by a subsidiary of state-led Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA for lack of payment, the oil company said on Saturday.
Petrobras, as the state-run oil and gas producer is commonly known, said it turned off supply to the Apare-cida thermal plant on Friday. The Aparecida plant generates electricity for Manaus, Amazon's largest city, and is operated by Amazonas Energia.
