Metro Holdings appoints new CEO
ACTING group chief executive officer of publicly-listed retail and property group Metro Holdings, Lawrence Chiang, has been appointed as the group CEO and executive director of the company with effect from June 1, Metro said in a release to the Singapore Exchange on Wednesday.
The appointment puts Mr Chiang, 63, as overall in charge of the operations of the Metro group of companies.
Mr Chiang has been with the Metro group since 1989. He had been the group general manager since 2007 before being redesignated as the group chief operating officer in 2013.
He was appointed the group's acting CEO on Feb 3, 2016, following the death of the group's former managing director Jopie Ong.
Mr Ong, who was 75, died on Feb 2, 2016. He had overseen the retail group for more than four decades.
