Tokyo: Stocks open lower despite Wall St gains

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Monday, resuming their slide from the previous week as a stronger yen weighed on exporters despite solid gains on Wall Street.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 0.47 per cent, or 76.40 points, to 16,087.76 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares fell 0.36 per cent, or 4.62 points, to 1,296.78.
