Hong Kong, Shanghai: Stocks open down on fresh growth fears

[HONG KONG] Stocks in Hong Kong and Shanghai retreated at the opening bell Wednesday following another sell-off on Wall Street as caution over the global economy returned to trading floors.
The Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong fell 0.38 per cent, or 77.00 points, to 20,100.00.
And the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.44 per cent, or 13.33 points, to 3,039.74, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, lost 0.37 per cent, or 7.19 points, to 1,943.92.
