Tokyo: Stocks extend global equities rally

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks extended a global equities rally at the start of trade Wednesday, rising for the second straight session following gains in oil prices and a positive lead from Wall Street.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 1.06 per cent, or 179.39 points, to 17,053.83 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares was up 0.89 per cent, or 12.08 points, at 1,375.11.
