Tokyo: Stocks open 1.25% lower after global market losses

    [TOKYO] Tokyo shares opened lower on Wednesday after global stock markets cooled following lacklustre European and US economic data and a drop in oil prices.

    Tokyo's benchmark Nikkei 225 index fell 1.25 per cent, or 200.92 points to 15,851.13 in early trading.

    The broader Topix index of all first-section shares slipped 1.30 per cent, or 16.8 points, to 1,274.37.
