Shanghai, Hong Kong: Stocks open lower as global markets struggle
[HONG KONG] Chinese stocks opened lower on Wednesday, tracking overnight losses in global markets on lacklustre European and US economic data, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dropped 0.46 per cent, or 13.45 points, to 2,889.88.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, fell 0.41 per cent, or 7.76 points, to 1,869.43.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index lost 0.43 per cent, or 84.41 points, to 19,330.37 in opening deals.
