AHEAD of Umno's annual assembly on Tuesday, Prime Minister Najib Razak sought to convince party members of his probity in the controversial receipt of RM2.6 billion (S$855.2 million) from an unidentified Arab, by declaring his conscience clear and maintaining the central bank had been aware from the get-go of his personal bank accounts in Ambank.

Mr Najib stated the central bank was notified when the accounts were created, according to a Bernama report of his Monday night interview with TV3, which comes under the Media Prima group. The media conglomerate is indirectly controlled by Umno or the United Malays National Organisation.
