Policy U-turns needed for many issues in Singapore
I WISH to congratulate Kishore Mahbubani for his remarks as reported in your article, "Privatisation of public transport may have gone too far: Mahbubani" (BT, Oct 30). This is an important opinion based on the present public transport operators' reported inefficiencies and profit-making orientation. To re-nationalise public transport services is an obvious and possible alternative to the status quo.
Another significant statement that was made was that Singapore must "have the 'political courage' to make policy U-turns". I can envisage many critical issues that confront Singapore today. Let me list three, among them:
