Tokyo: Shares open up 1.03% following Wall Street gains

[TOKYO] Tokyo shares opened 1.03 per cent higher Thursday, following solid gains on Wall Street amid rising expectations of a US interest rate hike next month.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 202.06 points to 19,851.24 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares opened up 0.96 per cent, or 15.23 points, at 1,601.76.
