Hong Kong: Stocks open down after holiday
[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks fell in the opening exchanges of trade Thursday after a one-day holiday that saw mainland stocks tumble on profit-taking and concerns about the state of the Chinese economy.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong shed 0.84 per cent, or 193.64 points, to 22,795.58.
And in Shanghai, the benchmark composite index eased 0.85 per cent, or 28.39 points, to 3,292.29.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, slipped 0.18 per cent, or 3.49 points, to 1,885.64.
