Singapore preparing to develop domestic secondary gas trading market
Singapore
SINGAPORE is now looking to develop a secondary gas trading market in earnest, with the Energy Market Authority (EMA) launching a consultation paper to seek feedback on how this should be implemented. This will go towards enhancing Singapore as a liquefied natural gas (LNG) hub and also pave the way for a gas futures market in future, said Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry) S Iswaran.
The secondary gas trading market, which Mr Iswaran first announced at the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) last year, will allow gas buyers and sellers to trade gas on a short-term basis domestically.
