Curiouser and curiouser
TO see Margaret Leng Tan wear a clown nose, clutch a toy dog and tinkle the ivories of her toy piano is to understand what it's like to live life without giving a toss what anyone thinks of you.
Tan, who's 70, thinks nothing of wearing a Chinese lantern over her face while she plays knee-high pianos with all the finger-adroitness and sonic precision of a master musician.
Of course, part of her chutzpah comes from being able to create beautifully sculpted sounds from the most mundane objects like wind-up toys, electric kettles and clocks.
