A SINGAPOREAN man has been arrested under the Internal Security Act (ISA) and placed on a detention order after his attempt to join the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group in Syria.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said on Tuesday that 51-year-old Mustafa bin Sultan Ali left Singapore in late May and went to a "regional country", from where he boarded a flight to Turkey. He had chosen this particular travel route in the hope of "hiding his tracks", the ministry said.
