Niche car brands may miss out on riding the COE boom
Some have failed to debut new models to excite the market; one dealer says buyers now go for recognised brands

SOME niche car brands in Singapore which have been languishing amid sluggish conditions may not benefit from the gradually expanding quota of certificates of entitlement (COEs) because of changing market conditions, say motor dealers.
In the first four months of 2015, some mass-market brands have had registrations only in the single digits: Daihatsu had two, and Fiat and Chrysler, one apiece. Skoda and Chery, which registered one and two cars respectively last year, have so far had no registrations this year.
