US: Stocks open higher amid hopes of Greece deal
[NEW YORK] Rising hopes that Greece will reach a deal with official creditors to avert a default helped push US stocks higher in opening trade on Tuesday.
In the first five minutes of trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 30.83 points (0.17 per cent) at 18,150.61.
The broad-based S&P 500 advanced 2.78 (0.13 per cent) to 2,125.63, while the Nasdaq Composite, which punched to another record on Monday, gained 5.41 points (0.10 per cent) at 5,159.38.
Patrick O'Hare of Briefing.com said markets also got support from the release of better-than-expected purchasing manager indices in China, Germany and France.
