SEMICONDUCTOR giant Micron Technology kicked off a US$4 billion expansion of its wafer fab on North Coast Drive in Woodlands with a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday.
The fab, which is Micron's major NAND flash memory fabrication facility, will see a 255,000 square foot expansion in an adjacent building that will allow the company to expand its state-of-the-art 3D NAND production here. Singapore accounts for around 75 per cent of Micron's global NAND production.
