China: Shares higher in morning trade

    [SHANGHAI] Chinese shares were higher on Thursday morning on hopes for moves to boost the economy after the release of a weak round of economic data, dealers said.

    The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.92 per cent, or 30.21 points, to 3,321.11.

    The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, edged up 0.27 per cent, or 4.64 points, to 1,693.79.
