Taiwan: Stocks flat ahead of Fed meeting; TSMC down
[TAIPEI] Taiwan stocks were flat on Monday as investors stayed cautious ahead of the US Federal Reserve's two-day meeting this week, while heavyweights such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) fell.
As of 0140 GMT, the main TAIEX index was down 0.1 per cent at 9,566.27, after ending up 0.2 per cent on Friday.
TSMC, the world's top contract chip maker and Taiwan's most heavy-weighted share, was off 0.7 per cent, sending the electronics sub-index lower by 0.3 per cent.
Banking shares added 0.2 per cent.
