Collaborative robots getting increasingly accessible
WITH its more portable and affordable offering, Universal Robots has been working hard to make robots accessible - both at its price point and simplicity in implementation - to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Last week, the developer and manufacturer of flexible and user-friendly industrial robots unveiled the UR3 robotic arm. A smaller version of its predecessors - the UR5 and UR10 - the UR3 can carry a payload of three kilogrammes. The UR5 and UR10 can carry a payload of five kg and 10 kg respectively.
The arm, which is capable of 360-degree rotation on all wrist joints and infinite rotation on the end joint, can perform a whole spectrum of tasks ranging from pick-and-place, to soldering screwing, gluing, and painting.
