IN AN "on-demand" world where a company's value increasingly hinges on data and intellectual property, IT departments are having to transform their roles to becoming key business enablers, from merely "keeping the lights on".
Ron Goh, Asean vice-president and general manager for cloud and virtualisation company VMware, notes that in order to fulfil this new and expanded role despite manpower constraints, IT departments are adopting the cloud to increase agility.
