Malaysia December inflation seen easing to 2.8% year-on-year

[KUALA LUMPUR] Malaysia's annual inflation rate is expected to have eased slightly in December, a Reuters poll showed, as falling fuel prices offset the effects of higher food costs from severe floods.

The median forecast in the poll was 2.8 per cent, against November's 3.0 per cent.

Although oil prices slid further in December, the worst flood in decades hit several states in Peninsular Malaysia, causing crop prices to spike.
