Secondary gas market to boost S'pore's LNG hub ambition

SINGAPORE'S wholesale electricity market operator, Energy Market Company (EMC), and gas industry regulator, Energy Market Authority (EMA), are tying up with industry players to develop a trading platform to facilitate a secondary gas market here.

Currently, local buyers who sign gas contracts are locked into long-term commitments, but their short-term needs may differ, often resulting in either excess or short supply.
