Over 20 Senior Counsel declined to take up case
Mostly because of their relationship with WongP: Sharma
[SINGAPORE] Deepak Sharma, husband of surgeon Susan Lim, said he had hoped to appoint a local lawyer to take up his case involving WongPartnership (WongP).
Instead, he was turned down by over 20 Senior Counsel (SC) here whom he approached - mostly because of their personal and/or professional relationships with WongPartnership and/or its lawyers, he said.
This was revealed in documents submitted by Mr Sharma to the High Court. Among various things, he is asking the court to quash a review committee's (RC) decision on a complaint he made to the Law Society of Singapore (Lawsoc). Mr Sharma had complained about the fees charged by SC Alvin Yeo and Melanie Ho of WongP for the work they did in representing the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) against his wife.
