Linc Energy to build UCG plant in Poland

MAINBOARD-listed Linc Energy will be starting underground coal gasification (UCG) operations in Poland, in what the firm said could transform the current energy landscape in Europe.

The oil and gas producer said it has obtained initial approval from the Polish Ministry of the Environment for its first project there, which will be built within its coal resource licence area near Krakow.

Under the first stage of the project, Linc Energy will conduct gas production trials and verification of its proprietary UCG process. It aims to confirm that these operations can be operated as a safe and environmentally acceptable way of extracting gas which can be adopted as a commercial energy solution in the near future.
