SIA Engg, Boeing to set up aviation services venture in Singapore
Fleet-management services for airlines in Asia-Pacific and beyond
IN a move hailed as a game changer for the airline industry, SIA Engineering is forming a Singapore-based joint venture with Boeing to provide fleet-management services to airlines in the Asia-Pacific and beyond.
Boeing Asia Pacific Aviation Services, to be 51 per cent owned by Boeing and 49 per cent by SIA Engineering, will provide industry-leading engineering, spare parts and repair and maintenance services for Boeing 737, 747, 777 and 787 planes.
The new set-up will leverage Boeing's expertise as an original equipment manufacturer and in advanced e-enabling technology, as well as SIA Engineering's extensive maintenance experience and intimate knowledge of airlines' engineering needs. The JV will focus on providing a customised, comprehensive and integrated suite of fleet-management services to its customers.
