Instagram's new app to debut in S'pore, NZ, South Africa
[SINGAPORE] Instagram, the popular photo and video-sharing service acquired by Facebook for US$1 billion in 2012, has filtered out Singapore as one of only three countries to launch its new app, Bolt, which it claims is the fastest way to share content with loved ones.
Bolt, a standalone app managed by Instagram, allows users to capture and share a photo or video instantaneously with their contacts, with just one tap.
When asked if Bolt would cannibalise usage of Instagram, an Instagram spokeswoman said: "No, Bolt is a very different experience from Instagram. The latter is about capturing and sharing beautiful and powerful moments with the world; Bolt is about quickly sharing those fun and meaningful moments (that just can't wait) with people you're close to."
