Chinese art painter feted - 27 years after his death
RECOGNITION for the late Chinese art painter/calligrapher/poet Fan Chang Tien is building up now, close to 30 years after his death, but posthumous acknowledgement isn't uncommon in the art world.
Last November, a private gallery held a show on Fan's works, sourced mostly from his students. This week, Fan's daughter published a definitive book of his paintings, besides holding an exhibition of some 50 works, most of which have been in the family collection and had not been seen before in public.
It took Teresa Yao 17 years to complete the book after her mother first mooted it, but its comprehensive coverage, translation of inscriptions and also translations into Japanese make it a tome worth waiting for.
