2 local artists in tussle for hefty prize

TWO Singaporean artists have been included among 15 finalists for one of the region's richest arts awards - the Asia Pacific Breweries (APB) Foundation Signature Art Prize. Ho Tzu Nyen and Zhao Renhui were shortlisted for their works titled PYTHAGORAS and Eskimo Wolf Trap often quoted in sermons respectively. They were picked from 105 nominated artworks from 24 countries.

The triennial APB Foundation Signature Art Prize is in its third edition this year, and recently announced that its top prize will be S$60,000 this time around, up from S$45,000 previously. It also offers two Jurors' Choice Awards of S$15,000 each, and a People's Choice Award of S$10,000.

Singapore Art Museum director Susie Lingham says: "Many of the finalist works chosen for this edition of the Prize were interdisciplinary ones which combined and integrated various art forms, exploring boundaries between art disciplines and looking at new forms of expression."
