Perfect performance fit
Golfers can now have their clubs and golf balls customised and pick them up within a day or two. By Justine Moss
HAVING a set of custom-made golf clubs in one's bag rather than a stock standard one off the shelf has been growing in popularity over the last few years, with a number of golf equipment fitting facilities emerging in Singapore. Yet, more often than not, the reality is that then one has to wait to use them as the clubs have to be ordered from overseas which can take up to six weeks.
With the opening of the new Callaway Performance Centre (CPC) in Singapore in March, golfers can now have their clubs customised and pick them up within a day or two. Located in Big Fish Golf's (BFG) fitting studio, the CPC is a state-of-the-art facility where Callaway clubs and golf balls, in addition to other brands, can be fitted for every player.
Singapore is the first country in South-east Asia to have a CPC and it was an obvious choice, according to Leighton Richards, managing director, Callaway, South East Asia, Pacific and India. "Clearly the demand of avid golfers is for custom-made clubs and the service aspect of having to get them from the US is not what you would expect from a premium brand. So for us, it was a no-brainer to support this and BFG's capabilities. BFG has been making custom clubs for tour players for a long time and it seemed like the perfect partnership. We're really excited about it."
