>Balik Pulau: Many Singaporeans are not aware that Singapore was part of an archipelago, and one of 70 islands. Balik Pulau, the latest exhibition by the National Heritage Board seeks to change that by offering Singaporeans a look into the earlier days of those islands and the people who lived on them. The exhibition allows viewers to experience island life as it was - through video interviews with past inhabitants, uncommon archival pictures and artefacts such as boats, marine life specimens and personal keepsakes. It also chronicles the transformation the islands went through in tandem with Singapore's modernisation.
Balik Pulau runs till August 10, at the National Museum of Singapore.
