No Japan-led shipping boom in sight for firms

[SINGAPORE] Shipping companies banking on a commodities shipping boom as a result of the Japanese economic resurgence, may be in for a disappointment.

It appears that the growth in demand for commodities from Japan has been dismal, even with the best efforts of Abenomics, which was aimed at boosting the appetite of the Japanese economy.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's new economic plan designed to encourage private investment in the country was expected to result in a surge in import demand from Japan for goods, including commodities.
