OECD recommends 'practical, low-cost policies' for Asean logistics sector
ECONOMIES in Asean could be better off by more than US$4.5 billion annually if regional governments encourage fair and transparent competition in the logistics sector.
This is a conservative estimate that does not take into account increased employment, lower barriers to market entry for small and medium-sized enterprises, improved cross-border trade and other beneficial spill-over effects, said the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The economic organisation launched two new reports at the Asean Economic Ministers Meeting on Thursday which offer policy recommendations to help the industry boost overall growth.
