Resurgence of Covid-19 in Malaysia likely to weaken economic recovery

SABAH native Ethel Sian and her husband travelled from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu to vote in a state election late last month.

While there, the couple was caught off-guard when the Malaysian government announced without prior warning that travellers from Sabah to the peninsula would be required to undergo Covid-19 testing and quarantine themselves until the test came back clear.

"For those of us who flew in just to vote, we were taken aback," said Ms Sian, a mother-of-two who was forced to make alternative arrangements for her school-going kids as the couple were forced to quarantine at home.
