DESPITE challenging times posed by the Covid-19 outbreak, Citi Singapore will offer its 76 summer 2020 interns full-time analyst roles after graduation as long as they meet the minimum programme requirements of the internship, the bank said on Wednesday.
"The move is intended to remove as much uncertainty as possible for these undergraduates joining the workforce during these challenging times," Citi said in reference to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The analyst role is the new name for its management associate programme, Citi said.
More than 80 per cent of the summer interns are penultimate-year students from local universities while the rest are Singaporeans currently pursuing their undergraduate degree overseas.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the start of the internship programme will be delayed to July from June, and its duration will be shortened to five weeks.
However, interns will still be fully paid for the original duration of the programme, which varies between 10 and 12 weeks depending on the division the student is attached to.
Depending on the situation, parts of the programme may be delivered virtually, the bank informed.
The students will be attached to one of eight business or technology divisions in Citi Singapore. These divisions include capital markets and advisory, commercial banking, private banking, consumer banking, operations and technology, as well as treasury and trade solutions.
