DBS D05 : D05 0% on Monday announced that Lim Soon Chong will be appointed as the bank's group head of global transactions services to replace John Laurens, who will be retiring.

Formerly the group head of investment products and advisory for DBS's consumer banking and wealth management business, Mr Lim will take over from Aug 1 this year.

In its statement, DBS noted that since joining the bank in 2006, Mr Lim has led a broad range of assignments across different functions including consumer, wealth, corporate treasury and risk management.

Following his new appointment, Mr Lim will also continue as head of digital for the bank's institutional banking group, where he will drive digital initiatives across the bank's institutional banking business.

To help with the transition, Mr Laurens will remain as a senior adviser until Dec 31, 2021.

Since joining DBS in 2014, the bank noted that Mr Laurens has been instrumental in building the bank's transaction banking business, and played a key role in leading the bank to clinch several prestigious awards, such as the Overall Best Service (Global) #1 in Euromoney's Cash Management Survey 2020.

Mr Lim said that Mr Muthukrishnan's appointment shows the bank's commitment to developing leadership from within.
