Deloitte recruits new hires to strengthen data analytics capabilities in Asia Pacific
RESPONDING to a robust demand for data analytics across the Asia Pacific region, Deloitte on Wednesday said it is partnering specialists in big data and analytics solutions, Cameron Price and Gerard Skybey along with their team to enhance the accounting firm's data analytics capabilities.
Mr Price and Mr Skybey will join Deloitte as partners in Sydney and Singapore respectively. Prior to joining Deloitte, both were Asia Pacific leaders of consulting firm, CBIG Consulting. A team of 39 employees will also join Deloitte's Analytics and Information Management teams in Sydney, Melbourne and Singapore.
Said Deloitte Australia's Asia Pacific leader for Analytics & Information Management, Tim Nugent: "The timing of this transaction reflects the opportunity we see in both big data and analytics, and in the fastest growing region on the planet. In a newly connected world, the convergence of data and connectivity provides enormous opportunities. It underpins the way businesses operate and is at the centre of what drives competitive advantage today."
The International Data Corporation (IDC) estimates that the market for big data and business analytics in Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) to be worth US$13.6 billion in 2017, with an expected compound annual growth rate of about 14.4 per cent through to 2020, making it one of the fastest growing regions worldwide.
Deloitte added that next generation data analytics is increasingly important to corporations as efficient analysis of data not only helps firms improve their processes, but grow, streamline and protect their business.
