Maybank appoints Khairussaleh Ramli as group president and CEO
MAYBANK on Thursday (Jan 27) said Khairussaleh Ramli, most recently the former group managing director of RHB Banking Group, will succeed Abdul Farid Alias as group president and chief executive officer on May 1.
Khairussaleh, 54, was responsible for charting RHB's strategic direction and leading the organisation through its five-year strategy ending FY2022, said Maybank.
He had a stint with Maybank between November 2008 and September 2013; back then, he was the group's chief financial officer for more than three years, then was appointed president-director and CEO of the bank's Indonesian operations.
While at Maybank Indonesia, he introduced a business transformation programme that led to its turnaround and an 81 per cent profit growth for FY2012, Maybank added.
"Dato' Khairussaleh re-joins the Maybank family and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience from the financial services and capital markets industry of close to 30 years. We are confident that with his vast experience, he will be able to lead Maybank in its next growth phase, pillared on the M25 focus areas of digitalisation, sustainability and new value drivers," said chairman Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa.
Khairussaleh's other corporate sector experiences include a role as group chief strategy officer at Telekom Malaysia Berhad. He also spent 8 years at Public Bank Group in the corporate banking and stockbroking/futures broking divisions.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Washington University and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School.
Maybank's board of directors expressed its appreciation to Farid for his contributions.
