OCBC BANK said on Friday (May 27) that it is appointing Lee Hwee Boon as its head of group human resources (HR). She will assume her new role on June 24.

Lee, 51 – who is currently OCBC’s head of enterprise banking, middle market & services, global commercial banking – will take take over from Jason Ho, who is retiring.

Lee joined OCBC in May 1993 as a trainee bank officer, and has taken on various business and corporate functions prior to her current role.

Helen Wong, group chief executive of OCBC Bank, said that Lee “has emerged as the strongest candidate” after evaluating both internal and external candidates.

“The human resources function plays a critical role in accelerating our investments in attracting, retaining and developing the best talent, and preparing our workforce to be future-ready,” Wong said.

“Just as Jason has brought a different perspective to HR, I am confident that Hwee Boon will do the same as she transforms and drives our talent strategy.”
