Schroders APAC chief Susan Soh to retire, Chris Durack appointed

SCHRODERS Asia-Pacific chief executive Susan Soh will retire at the end of 2022 after 17 years with the European investment management firm, it said on Tuesday (Nov 15).
Soh, also known for being the chairman of the Investment Management Association of Singapore (IMAS), will continue to have a senior advisor role at Schroders.
The move comes amid a slew of leadership changes, which will see former Asia co-head Chris Durack rejoin the firm and succeed Soh as APAC CEO. He will assume the role from January 2023 and be based in Singapore.
Soh and Durack were appointed co-heads of Schroder’s Asia-Pacific operations in 2020 before the latter stepped down in 2021. Prior to his exit, Durack was with Schroders for a decade, holding various leadership positions, including chief executive roles for the Hong Kong and Australian markets.
Amy Cho, Hong Kong chief executive and deputy head of Asia-Pacific, will also leave to pursue personal interests. Replacing her is Gopi Mirchandani, currently chief executive and head of client group Asia at NN Investment Partners.
Mirchandani will report to Durack and take on the newly-created role of head of strategy in Asia-Pacific., where she will help identify new business opportunities and partnerships to drive growth in the region.

Meanwhile, Chin Szu Yi has been appointed to the newly-created role of head of distribution for Asia-Pacific. Amanda Irving, Schroder Australia’s head of marketing, will be the head of marketing for APAC, effective November 2022. Irving replaces Michelle Han, who is now the global head of growth and digital marketing.
