Thai baht races to highest in over 1 year after solid Q2 GDP

[SINGAPORE] Thailand's baht turned firmer to hit its strongest level in more than one year after data showed the economy expanded faster than expected.

The baht gained as much as 0.2 per cent to 34.685 per US dollar, its strongest since July 22, 2015 after the data.

Thailand reported growth of 0.8 per cent in the second quarter from the previous three months. A poll had forecast 0.5 per cent.
