ING Bank announced on Wednesday its appointment of veteran corporate banker, Eddy Henning, as head of Corporate Client Coverage, Transaction Services and Corporate Finance Asia, effective Jan 1, 2018.

Mr Henning joins ING after 28 years at Deutsche Bank. During his tenure, he held several positions, most recently as Apac head of MNC Coverage in Singapore, where he was responsible for corporate clients in the region.

He succeeds Manuel R Salak III (Manolet), who retired in July 2017 after serving ING for 23 years.

In his new role, Mr Henning will provide senior banker coverage for Asian corporate clients and multinational corporations. He will also help to grow ING's outbound activities to Europe, and be responsible for Capital Structuring & Advisory Asia, the company said.

His appointment comes as ING looks to expand its operations in China, which is a key growth pillar for the firm.

Mr Henning will report to Gerrit Stoelinga, CEO of ING Wholesale Banking in Asia.

Said Mr Stoelinga: "Eddy brings a wealth of experience of working with corporate clients globally, including those in Germany, China and more broadly across Asia-Pacific, and we're very excited to have him join us to drive ING's push into increased corporate coverage across Asia."
