Having proven it can build a fast, fun electric car in the form of the e-tron GT, Audi is doubling down in 2022. By mid-year, it will launch the e-tron S, a sporty version of its original electric vehicle (EV) with three motors instead of two. That will give it 500 horsepower and the muscle to hit 100km/h in 4.5 seconds, but making liberal use of all that performance is unlikely to be good for the real world range, which is around 350 kilometres on a single charge. Audi announced last year that it is speeding up its transition to battery power, and expects to build its last combustion engine in 2033.
