Four electric luxury cars headed for Singapore

BMW iX3

Revealed as a concept model at the Beijing Motorshow in April this year, the iX3 is based on the X3, and will also be BMW's first fully electric SUV model. It's expected to enter production in 2020, offering 270hp with a battery capacity of more than 70kWh, and up to 400km of range.

Jaguar i-Pace

The English brand's electric SUV is smaller than the Audi, but similar in terms of power and battery capacity. Originally scheduled for a November launch in Singapore, it's looking more likely to arrive in early 2019 instead.

Mercedes-Benz EQC

A direct competitor, it was announced in Stockholm barely a week before the e-tron, along with a US$12 billion pledge by Mercedes boss Dieter Zetsche to "go all in on electric". Equal in size, it also has 400hp, though it is slightly quicker than the Audi e-tron. But a smaller 80kWh battery pack gives it less range. Its availability for Singapore is yet to be confirmed.

Porsche Taycan

It's more of a distant cousin than competitor to the Audi e-tron, but it shows the exciting possibilities of luxury EVs. A sporty four-door grand tourer, the Taycan will have at least 600hp and accelerate from zero to 100km/h in less than four seconds. It will also share its platform with the planned Audi e-tron GT. Porsche expects a Singapore debut in 2020.
