DESPITE precautions taken, 2.5 per cent of workers with mild symptoms at NSL subsidiary Dubai Precast have tested positive for the novel coronavirus as at April 30, the mainboard-listed company said in a bourse filing on Monday.

It did not disclose the number of workers who tested positive.

NSL added that several of its customers' sites had also closed temporarily due to the spread of Covid-19 among their main contractors' employees.

It said that the manufacture of precast concrete products for its ongoing projects in Dubai had been operating at half the overall plant capacity since the beginning of April, due to movement restriction and social-distancing measures.

The construction sector was exempted from a Covid-19 lockdown in the United Arab Emirates between April 4 and April 25.

On Sunday, NSL said it expects to remain in a loss position for the half year to June, as the collapse of oil prices and the measures to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus in Singapore, Malaysia and Dubai are weighing on its financial results.

NSL shares closed flat at S$0.765 on Friday.
